... advances heritage preservation and expands activities related to the care of movable cultural assets; it makes the furnishing collections of heritage sites - primarily within the Plzeň Region - accessible to expert researchers and students, providing access both through records and published data and through direct physical examination.

The SDMF in Plasy carries out practical preventive care and professional repository management, ranging from cataloging and inventory tasks to contextual analysis of the furnishings and the deepening of scholarly documentation - examining the collections from art-historical and cultural-historical perspectives in relation to their specific settings.

Our repository provides methodological support to other heritage sites (including those not managed by the National Heritage Institute) regarding preventive care for furnishings and organizes occasional seminars and training sessions for heritage site staff.

Furthermore, we strive to raise public awareness about the field of movable cultural heritage conservation; we work with students and children, and collaborate on selected projects focused on heritage interpretation and cultural heritage education.
